What Does Family Mean To You?

This month is our last ‘quiet’ month before things start to get really busy for us. I know that for those of you in the northern hemisphere you’re enjoying summer festivities. Well, as I write this I’m curled up under a blanket on the couch with the fire blazing. The wind is blowing outside and the rain is coming down. It is safe to say that I’m looking forward to the summer months. Especially because it means more activities with family. What does family mean to you?

The Definition Of Family

For me, it equals people who are there for you no. matter. what.

Family means safety and confidence to be yourself. Family means unconditional love.

Family equals people (or a person) you can laugh with until your belly hurts and weep with when grief arrives.

Family means loyalty and acceptance.

In fact, I remember my father saying to me time and time again during my childhood that family will always be there for you when everyone else may have walked away.

Growing up in New Zealand, away from most of my family meant that our family became extended past blood relations. Those people have in turn become honorary grandparents, aunts, and uncles to my own children.

Family is what you make it. It is something that is worth more than any material possession.

I hope you stick with me as we chat about family this month. Please let me know in the comments what family means to you. 🙂 If you missed out on last month’s theme, you can find it here.

Until next time!

Hi! I'm Christine...a stay-at-home mum to two tiny humans. My constant focus is having my home run as smoothly as possible. Keeping two kids alive, and maintaining my sanity is also a priority. Most Saturday nights, you can find me hunkered down watching Grey's Anatomy, and hopefully nibbling on some chocolate. :)
